ACTIVATING THE INDEXER IN VALDOCS 1.1X In later versions of Valdocs 1.1x it is possible to disable the Indexer and STORE files by a non-indexed file name. Valdocs keeps track of whether the Indexer is on or off by storing that information in the CMOS RAM. Occasionally the Indexer will turn off by itself and customers find themselves at a loss as to what has happened to their files and often cannot PRINT them anymore. ASSUMPTIONS: This section assumes that you are using one of the later versions of Valdocs 1.1x and are already in the Editor. It also assumes that your experience level is already at Expert in order to be able to access the Quirks menu in step 2. Activating the Indexer 1. Press HELP. 2. Select uirks. 3. When the Quirks menu appears, select ndexer active. This is a toggle, so if the Indexer is inactive, this will turn it on, or vice versa. Once the Indexer is on you will be able to STORE, INDEX or RETRIEVE files again through the Indexer. Since printing can only be done through the Indexer, it will now be fully operational as well. However, you may find that any files that were STOREd with non-indexed file names may not be in the Index. To rebuild the Index completely, you can start with either section "Rebuilding a Valdocs 1.1x Index, Valdocs 1.1x COPY DISK Method" or "Rebuilding a Valdocs 1.1x Index, CP/M Indexer Method".
