Zapple Access from Valdocs 1.1x Software Method This technical information is provided by Epson Systems Product Support Group. While it should prove useful to you we cannot guarantee that it will hold true in every instance. W A R N I N G Zapple is the monitor program for the TPM operating system of Valdocs. It is very powerful, therefore, you should be familiar with its commands before you start using them, or at the very least, follow the step-by- step instructions of another paper that tells you how to use it. If misused, it may damage your QX computer. This method uses a software trap to get into Zapple, but like all good traps, it only works if the trap has been set, or enabled. Enabling the Zapple trap in Valdocs 1.1x 1. Press MENU. 2. Select enu of Applications. 3. Select eft drive. 4. Select the application called SETUP.SYS. (It may also be called SETUP.COM.) 5. Press RETURN. There are no parameters needed for SETUP to run. 6. From the SETUP program's main menu, select xperience level. 7. Select xpert. The word "Expert" will then appear under the Current column heading. If a new option trl-\ is not displayed after selecting xpert, then press UNDO until you get back to the Editor and start with step 1 of this procedure again. 8. Select the new option trl-\. When "Ctrl-\" displays under the Current column, the Zapple trap is enabled. Press UNDO until you get back to the Editor. 1 87.7.15 As long as the trap is enabled, you will be able to use it at any time while you are in Valdocs. However, the trap will not work if Valdocs has crashed or locked out the keyboard. Getting into Zapple 1. Enter CTRL-\. This is done by holding down the CTRL key and typing the "\" key. Immediately after CTRL-\ is entered, Zapple will display an at-sign followed by a memory location (like @EA26) and then will place the cursor after a ">" prompt. You are now in the Zapple monitor and can enter any necessary Zapple commands. Getting back into Valdocs 1.1x 1. When you are through, type: g and press RETURN. Although it may not show on the screen, you have been returned to the point in Valdocs where you were when you used the Zapple trap. 2 87.7.15
