Could you give me a description of what I would have to go through to do the transfers so I can see how cumbersome (or easy) it is. If transferring files from and to the microcassette is different than the RAM disk, please tell me how. Many thanks in advance. I have other NiCad battery products (a TV, for example) that the instructions say to leave plugged in all the time si ti stays charged. If you do want a copy of MAC, I can provide one on the PF-10 format for $150. I haven't had any problems with my drive, but really have no valid info on overall reliability. So, if anyone has information to contradict this, I will not be embarrassed if it is not true. If I am not mistaken, according to the Geneva book, to initiate charging, you must briefly unplug the external adapter and then replug it, while the computer is off. Warning: Make sure the internal battery voltage is below about 5 volts, because the charging sequence always begins at full charge and then goes to trickle charge afterwards. No serious harm will come to the PX-8 batteries if you do this once or even a few times, but after a while, you could reduce the capabiltiy of the \internal batteries. Regards, BK. I have been making several very large libraries, usually containing 25 to 35 entries, and totaling about 220 to 250 K in size. The bug I keep getting is BDOS ERROR on the source drive supplying the files. The program continues after a carriage return with no further difficulty. I have found that the problem doesn't occur with the same disks, in exactly the same manner using NULU Version 1.51. I was warned by a friend who had difficulties with Version 1.50 when un-squeezing files over a certain size (I think it was 12K). The purpose of my message is two fold, to indicate what I have found as a solution (use version 1.51) and to ask what the most up to date version is, for NULU. So, does anyone have the up to date scoop?? Dave Hogan, RESEDA, CA. Msg#: 2082 *BULLETIN BOARD* 12/27/86 15:25:16 (Read 60 Times) From: MARK MILLER To: DAVE HOGAN (Rcvd) Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 2073 (NULU VERSION 1.0) NULU151 is the current, and possibly last, version. Stay away from NULU15 Š(NULU150) as it has a serious bug which will destroy entire .LBRs. The fix employed to create NULU151 prohibits changing of disk drives via NULU, i.e., you must exit, change to the new drive load NULU151 again. I have seen at least one report that NULU151 CAN mess up squeezed files when unsqueezed during extraction, but haven't taken the time to verify such, primarily because more .LBRs are now composed of crunched files as opposed to squeezed, which NULU (or LU) won't handle anyway. You should be safe if you use NULU151 executed from the drive you are either creating a .LBR on or extracting members to and unsqueeze only after extracting. Minor inconvenience, but who's to complain? NULU's biggest, and usually its only, problem is that you should not remove files from a library to a different disk drive! I've read that the author of NULU even indicates that should never be done. Always use NULU on just the one drive. I also noticed a message concerning the new CRUCH of files. I have all of the programs to CRUNCH and UNCRUCH, so if you want them I could leave them here for the system, if Bob wants me to. The basic difference between CRUCH and SQUEEZE is that CRUNCH will save about 40% more space than SQUEEZE will. Msg#: 2556 *BULLETIN BOARD* 01/20/87 19:21:16 (Read 61 Times) From: MARK MILLER To: TIMOTHY WIRKUS Subj: REPLY TO MSG# 2546 (NULU VERSION 1.0) NULU151 solved the problem of extracting files to a different disk drive from the one the .LBR file was located. The fix introduced a known limitation prohibiting the changing of disk drives from within NULU151. Some have reported other problems, but the only one of significance is a concern for unsqueezing during extraction. So extract and then unsqueeze or uncrunch. If you are using NULU15, then your comment re the extraction to the same disk drive is correct. The current version of NULU is NULU151, or version 1.51.
