Colour Emu Software Pak I (15.12.96) ************************************ Merry Christmas everyone ! Thank you for sending us your Colour Genie software, we have quite a collection of good programs for the emulator now. With this package, you receive all the software we have by now. Surprisingly, all of these programs work with version 2.1 ! A few didn't work with version 2.0; but with version 2.1, we couldn't find a single program that caused major problems. So please enjoy this software package, and please also send us the Colour Genie software you have, so we can make it available to the other Colour Genie friends. Concerning the copyrights of these programs, we wrote to all the authors we could find. All of them gave their permissions to make their software available via the Internet - thank you very much ! Still we couldn't find all of the authors. We assume that they are glad to see their old software "come to life" again. If you know of any existing copyrights, please let us know about it. If you are the author or copyright-holder of any of these programs, and don't want them to be available in the Internet, please write to us, and we'll immediately remove it from the web site. This is a good opportunity to publish our own software at last, so we can get all the glory we deserve ! ;-) We marked programs which we think you MUST take a look at with a "*"-symbol. How to load this software ************************* Some people wrote to us, saying that they never had a Colour Genie computer of their own, and are not sure how to use it. Maybe you have even forgotten about the commands (as we did - it's been a long time :-) ). Here we give an explanation of the important tape access commands. Basically there were only two different kinds of programs - COLOUR BASIC and SYSTEM (machine code) programs. The BASIC programs had no checksum of any kind, the machine code ones had a CRC checksum for each block. You can load a BASIC program by entering CLOAD Choose a virtual tape file using the dialogue box. Machine code programe are loaded by entering SYSTEM At the "*? "-prompt, you enter the name of the program as it is stored in the file itself. With most programs, we used this name for the file name of the virtual tape, in order to not getting confused with the two names. As soon as you press , the dialogue box will pop up, and you can enter the file name of the virtual tape. Please notice that the dialogue box will only appear in the "automatic cassette I/O" mode. If you simply press , Colour Emu will switch to "ignore cassette I/O" until you switch on the automatic mode again. As mentioned before, most of the names of the original SYSTEM games are the same as the file names. In other cases, the name you need for loading is given right below the file name, e.g. CHOPPER.CAS "CHOP83" BASIC programs only had one letter as a file name, which was not needed for loading the program anyway... You may notice that there are a lot of "?" in the tapes list. We couldn't find out all the authors and companies, so if you have more information about a program, please let us know and we'll add it to the list.
